Hulu Player Experience Survey
Summary
Before this project, Hulu lacked insight into users' playback experiences in our apps. While we could track metrics like rebuffering rates and minutes watched, we didn't understand how users felt about playback. This made it difficult to assess the success of new features aimed at enhancing the experience without impacting quantitative metrics. We aimed to create a survey to collect user feedback and monitor sentiment, especially after major feature launches.
As the mobile design lead, I collaborated with two other designers on competitive analysis, design iterations, test creation on Usertesting.com, and documentation for developers. I also performed Design QA to ensure the feature's successful launch on iOS. The final designs used existing components and explored various survey styles. We chose a Likert scale, as users were already familiar with it from customer satisfaction surveys, making it easier for them to respond.
This feature is now live on iOS and will be available soon on Android. For more details on the design process, please reach out.
