Summary

With the release of iOS 14, Hulu updated its widgets for iOS and Android home screens. As the design lead, I worked with the project manager to outline key design criteria for our widgets. We aimed to create personal, informative, and contextual widgets.

The first widget focuses on familiar content, featuring the 'Keep Watching' section from Hulu's homepage and a configuration called 'Your Recent Live' for users who watch live TV. The second widget introduces unfamiliar content, showcasing personalized recommendations in the 'TV for You' and 'Movies For You' rows.

As design lead, I created wireframes and more detailed designs, considering our existing layouts and widget sizes. After the designs were nearly done, I conducted a user test through Usertesting.com, analyzed the results, and shared them with the team. This feedback helped us finalize the designs and launch the widgets, which are now available! For more details about the design process, please reach out to me.
