Summary

Hulu’s Live Guide currently struggles with how users can ‘favorite’ channels. Favoriting channels is crucial for a better user experience because it helps users quickly find their preferred channels without scrolling through many options. Right now, users can only add favorites during the onboarding process or from the homepage, which can be confusing since networks are not the same as channels, even though networks can group multiple channels.

I led the design for a new ‘favorite channels’ feature in the Living Room. I conducted a competitive analysis, brainstormed design ideas, created wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes. My web design teammate and I also ran a user test with Usertesting.com and analyzed the results with our project manager. The final designs ensure a smooth integration with the current guide flow and other channel functions like playing a channel.
